Brief Overview of New Features
Better Font Support
MP can now be used more easily with Chinese, Japanese and Korean
Collocate highlighting
One of the major new features is the highlighting of collocates of a search term in the concordance lines. Collocates (of spans from 1L-1R to 4L-4R) are highlighted according to their ranking. This allows the combination of (visual) collocate frequency information with the usual presentation of concordance patterns.
Collocate Frequency Span
Originally the span was 2L-2R. It can now be set to a value from 1L-1R to 4L-4R
Corpus Comparison
Another major new feature is the comparison of corpora. The frequency list of the current corpus can be compared with a reference corpus. The result is a corpus comparison table based on frequency, percentages, and log likelihood statistics. The table can be rearranged by sorting on one or more of the parameters derived from the analyis of the two corpora.
Advanced Sort
MP 2.2 allows sorting by the value of Tracked Tags, which means that the concordance lines can be ordered by speaker name or other information coded in tags.
Advanced Collocation
A useful Span feature has been introduced. Once a search has been completed, the user chooses a span (2 to 5 words) and the software calculates the most frequent collocations of the specified size containing the search word.
Save As
Various saving options, including Save As Html file, which gives a coloured picture of the search results for display of on the web.
Other features
Number of word tokens and word types displayed
Frequency list can contain up to 950,000 lines
Improved alignment in saved concordance results
Context of concordance lines can be set to 0
