Brief feature list for MonoConc 1.5

Corpora: Multiple files can be loaded (several million words) into the concordance program. The contents of the files can be viewed from within the concordancer. New files can be added or removed at any time. The software will work with different languages.

Corpus Searching: Word (or part-word) or phrase concordance search is possible.
Wildcard characters
* = 0 or more characters
% = 0 or 1 character
? = exactly 1 character
@ = range of words (set by the user) (These options are configurable--other characters can be used for these functions.)

A possible search string is: sp?%k%%% * mind
An "Append search" option allows the results of a new search to be added to the results of a previous concordance search. Thus it is possible to add the results of a search for tell to the results of a search for say. (It is also possible to sort the results and then "hide the keyword.)
Context: A larger (multi-line) context can be displayed for a selected concordance line.
Number of hits: Users of Windows 95/98/NT will be able to get up to 32,000 hits, but with Windows 3.1 the limit is typically around 600-700.
Display: A "hide keyword" option is available (V1.2) and the search results can be toggled between a KWIC format and sentence mode (V1.5)
Sorting: Concordance results can be sorted 1L (First Left), 1R, 2L, 2R, as well as by search word and by text order. Version 1.5 allows primary and secondary sorts (e.g., first right, then first left).
Frequency information: A word list function provides a frequency count for the words in the corpus (with display in alphabetical or frequency order). In addition, the frequency of collocates of the search word (2L, 1L, 1R and 2R) is calculated. Specified words can be excluded from these frequency counts and there are other options to tailor the results.
Output: The concordance results can be saved to a file and/or printed. The name of the source file can be saved along with each concordance line.
Search options: Concordance searches can be case sensitive or case insensitive. Also, the word delimiters can be changed so that, if wanted, "-" (or any other non-letter characters) can be included as part of a word.
